Although people think that the manufacturing of clay targets is a relatively easy process, think again! It is an exacting science.
The Clay Pigeon Company is unique as we manufacture clay targets using petrol pitch which contains only 1,000 PAKS which makes them less cacogenic than our competitors who only manufacture clays made with coal tar pitch which contains 10,000 PAKS. The manufacturing process involved in using the environmental friendly petrol pitch is much more difficult and complex than using coal tar; however, we consistently overcome these complications in order to manufacture clays that are environmentally friendly.
Clays produced with Coal Tar pitch are already banned in many countries throughout Europe, and these clays are likely to be banned in the UK in the very near future.
Clays produced using Coal Tar have a much lower melting point and this can cause major problems during the hot summer months. The average melting point is 98 degrees for Coal Tar clays as opposed to production using Petro pitch of an average melting point of 115 degrees!
