QUALITY

Although people think that the manufacturing of clay targets should be, or is a relatively easy process, think again! It is, indeed, an exacting science.

The Clay Pigeon Company manufacture clay targets using petrol pitch which contains only 1,000 PAKS which makes them less cacogenic than our competitors who only manufacture clays made with coal tar pitch which contains 10,000 PAKS.  Clays produced with Coal Tar pitch are already banned in many countries in Europe, and these clays are likely to be banned in the UK, in the very near future.

The manufacturing process involved in using the environmental friendly petrol pitch is much more difficult and complex than using coal tar; however, we consistently overcome these complications in order to manufacture clays that are environmentally friendly.

The clays produced using Coal Tar have a much lower melting point and this can cause major problems during the hot summer months. The average melting point is 98 degrees for Coal Tar clays as opposed to production using Petro pitch of an average melting point of 115 degrees!

We, at the Clay Pigeon Company, are aware that it is paramount that our product remains of a consistently high standard and in order to achieve and maintain these high standards we have taken the following steps to ensure that the quality of our product is improved.

We employ a full-time Quality Control Manager who regularly tests our clays.  In addition to checking the weights, measurements and density we also fire the targets through several makes and models of traps.

All stock is randomly checked throughout the 24 hour shifts.

The Quality Control Manager records daily the results of the batches tested.  The daily production sheets are checked for any variance in factory conditions, which could adversely affect the quality of the clays.  These results are kept for a period of 12 months.

Customers can contact us to report any “quality” issues  on 01949 844195.

In the unlikely event of a customer encountering a problem we ask them to use the above number within 24hrs.

We are committed to improving our product and maintaining excellent customer service.
